Celebrating 2021 and All the Milestones to Come

We are both inspired and humbled by what we were able to accomplish in 2021. The progress we’ve made to date well exceeds the already-ambitious goals we set for ourselves; and you—our generous community of partners, advocates, and champions—continue to overwhelm us with your support and kindness.

Together, we continue to create new possibilities for investigators who are conducting high-impact, early-stage medical research to help solve humanity’s most intractable problems. We are excited to share the milestones the Karen Toffler Charitable Trust (KTCT) reached in 2021, and invite you to join us in celebrating their impact.

Impact to Date

The Toffler Scholar Program expanded to a total of nine universities. Our newest partners Columbia University, Harvard University, and Northwestern University join University of Florida, UCLA, Boston University, Florida State University, Temple University, and Johns Hopkins University.

  • 28 Toffler Scholar and Toffler Leadership Awards given to date
  • $1,151,500 total funding given to date

New Opportunities for Impact

In 2021, we expanded our university partnerships by sponsoring students who are participating in their summer academic research programs. This is yet another extension of our efforts to build a strong pipeline of passionate, curious students. Sponsorships include:

Funding for one high school student to participate in the Summer Academic Research Experience (SARE)/Biophysics Research for Baltimore Teens (BRBT) at Johns Hopkins University

Funding for two students participating in the Summer Neuroscience Internship Program (SNIP) at University of Florida.

This year, the Karen Toffler Charitable Trust also extended its reach internationally by participating in and presenting at the 2nd World Conference on Public Health.

The Launch of Exeloop℠

Intellectual exchange and collaboration across disciplines, interests, and expertise is core to KTCT’s mission and critical to fueling research progress. It’s also a key way we carry forward the vision, intellectual curiosity, and boundless imagination of our founders, Alvin and Heidi Toffler.

Exeloop℠ is a KTCT initiative designed to facilitate this purposeful connection and collaboration.

Launched in fall 2021, Exeloop℠ is a center point for a network of relationships between the Karen Toffler Charitable Trust (KTCT), Toffler Scholars, University partners, and investors. These are secure, collaborative, cross-connection events designed to advance the progress of investigators and research supporters from diversified backgrounds. We held our inaugural Exeloop℠ event in October 2021, and it was a huge success. Thank you to all who participated and made it possible. Learn more about Exeloop℠.
